Families
Child Care Aware of NH provides FREE and confidential referrals that are tailored to fit the needs of each individual family seeking child care. Families can receive referrals by calling us toll free at (855) 393-1731 or by clicking on the child care search button on the website.
Families can expect the following when receiving child care referrals from us:
- All information collected to complete the referral process will be kept confidential.
- Child Care Aware of NH services are free and for anyone looking for child care in NH.
- A list of three to fifteen programs will be given to each family that meets the criteria of that family’s search. If families do not find a program that is a good fit for them, they may request another list of programs from Child Care Aware of NH.
- Information on how to choose a quality child care program.
- Programs referred to families have been approved to operate by NH’s Child Care Licensing Unit, if licensed or have met the License Exempt requirements.
- Program employees will have a completed Criminal Background Check.
- Ability to request programs that are enrolled to accept families receiving NH Child Care Scholarship.
- Programs with staff that have been certified in CPR and First Aid.
Consumer Education
Additionally, we provide families with consumer education to assist them in choosing a quality child care program. We provide information on the importance of high quality care, what quality child care looks like and questions to ask when touring a program.
In addition, we also offer resources and information:
- How to find and look for child care monitoring information from the Child Care Licensing Unit
- Information on child development
- Resources around health, safety and wellness for children and families.
