Child Care Program Director

Position Summary:

The Child Care Program Director provides and coordinates the necessary support, resources, supervision and leadership to ensure the provision of Nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting, in accordance with the mission, goals and curriculum plans of the Program, the philosophy and policies of the governing agency, and in strict compliance with the NH Child Care Licensing Rules.

The Child Care Program Director will report the to Board of Directors and in time to a Family Resource Center Director.


Position Qualifications & Requirements:


  • Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Development
  • Have completed 3 credits in management or supervision, or a minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory or management position in lieu of 3 credits.
  • Have a minimum of 1500 hours experience working with children in a licensed child care program or public or private elementary school
  • Three years experience as a classroom teacher of young children
  • Three to five successful years experience managing child care facilities
  • Be certified in CPR and First Aid
Position Responsibilities:
  • Ensures and faciliates the smooth functioning of all aspects of the child care program in order to best serve the children and families
  • Provides supervision, leadership and support to program staff
  • Provide teaching support as needed
  • Conducts ongoing informal and annual formal performance evaluations of program staff
  • Facilitates the recruitment and coordinates the selection, hiring, and orientation of all new staff to the program in collaboration with the board and or FRC director, within agency-approved processes and policies
  • Ensures licensing requirements are met at all times
  • Keeping current on licensing and regulation changes and updates
  • Maintains requires records, forms and files as required by NH Child Care Licensing Rules, USDA, and other outside agencies with whom we interact
  • Maintains operation of the program within the approved budget, in consultation with the FRC Director
  • Seeks additional funding and fundraising opportunities in coordination with the FRC Director
  • Coordinates staff scheduling with approved teacher-child ratios
  • Oversees and manages all elements of program enrollment and ensures the smooth integration of new client-children into the program
  • Works closely with the program's administrative assistant and the FRC Director to ensure the efficient administrative operation of the program
  • Consults, supports, and provides guidance to teaching staff in evaluating and revising children's programming as required based on developmentally appropriate practices
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships and regular communication with parent-clients, facilitates or directly provides mediation and resolution to parent-program conflicts which arise
  • Ensures appropriate professional development opportunities are made available to program staff, within the center and agency budget parameters and in accordance with identified training needs to staff at the program
  • Markets the program to prospective client-parents, within agency standards
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned
Full or Part Time:
Hours Per Week:
30 hours per week, with ability of increasing to 40 hours per week
