Executive Center Director

Position Summary:

The Monadnock Community Early Learning Center (MCELC), located in Peterborough, NH,
seeks a passionate early childhood educator and skilled collaborator to serve as the
Center’s Executive Center Director. The person in this newly created position will provide
the necessary leadership and the appropriate skills for supporting and enhancing the
quality of the Center’s staff and its facility, its overall child care and learning environment,
and its partnerships with parents and the local community.
Founded in 1971, MCELC is a year-round welcoming and inclusive Center that serves
approximately 70 preschool children starting at six weeks of age with 15 staff.
The Executive Center Director’s position is full-time and offers a competitive salary and
benefits commensurate with the successful applicant’s relevant skills and experience.

Position Qualifications & Requirements:

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have appropriate experience in working in Early
Childhood settings, hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or
its equivalent, and professional credentials , such as CDA or NAC.

Position Responsibilities:

The Executive Center Director’s Responsibilities:
1. To implement the MCELC’s mission, goals, philosophy, and strategic plan, and to
demonstrate an exemplary commitment to high quality early childhood programs that
incorporate the developmentally appropriate principles and practices for infants,
toddlers, and young children as described in https://www.naeyc.org/our-
work/families/10-naeyc-program-standards .
2. To ensure warm, caring, clean, well-organized and safe environments for all the
Center’s children; to maintain and improve the Centers’ indoor facilities and outdoor
3. To recruit, coach, supervise, and assess MCELC’s staff; to provide ongoing professional
development opportunities; and to encourage the staff to work together as a flexible,
effective, and inspired team.
4. To utilize outstanding communication, interpersonal and multidisciplinary project
skills, and to demonstrate excellence and confidentiality in relationships with young
children, parents and families with diverse needs, cultures, and backgrounds.
5. To build and maintain strong, positive relationships with parents and local
communities through regular communication includingconversations, meetings and
events, and through newsletters, local and social media, and an effective, up-to-date
6. To maintain all necessary certifications and licenses to operate the MCELC and to
ensure the Center meets all local and state guidelines and requirements. To make sure
that the Center’s overall policies, administrative tasks and daily operations are current,
clearly communicated, and successfully implemented.
7. To provide leadership and effective grant seeking to expand MCELC’s financial
resources; to actively promote appropriate revenue development activities, including
cultivating relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate/ business and
local school partnerships; to constructively network with key funders and

constituencies; and to work with the Board, staff, and community supporters to
envision, fund, and implement improvements in every aspect of the MCELC’s work.
8. To demonstrate action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative approaches to leadership
and collaborative planning that reflect integrity, a positive attitude and enthusiasm for
MCELC’s mission, staff, and children/ families.
