Position Summary:

The Child Development Center at Keene State College invites applicants for an Early Childhood Teacher to work in partnership with the center staff to achieve highest standards of quality for children, families and college students. This benefited position is an 86% time term position with appointment dates from mid-August to mid-June. The position has potential for continuance or conversion to a permanent position.

The Child Development Center (CDC), located on the Keene State College campus in Elliot Hall, is a demonstration early childhood education site for Keene State College students, practicing professionals, and young children and their families. The Center strives to model best practices by offering nurturing environments where young children are encouraged to explore, to be creative, to cultivate positive relationships, to experience the joy of learning, and to develop a sense of community.

The CDC is a dynamic learning community dedicated to providing excellent practical experiences for students studying to be teachers or a related profession with young children. Undergraduate and graduate students are offered supervised experiences under the guidance of early childhood professionals, in the direct education and care of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Position Qualifications & Requirements:

Qualifications required: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Family Studies, Elementary Education or related field; one year experience teaching early childhood age children; demonstrated interpersonal communication, supervisory, and organizational skills.Must meet NH Child Care Licensing lead teacher qualifications and have sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this position, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Desirable qualifications: Teaching experience in a laboratory school; Infant/Child First Aid/CPR; NH Early Childhood Credential. Position Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities include: Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum, model appropriate child guidance, foster positive relationships with team members, children and families. Maintain communication with classroom families, observe, assess and record children’s progress and maintain children’s records. Plan and conduct parent conferences/assessment of children, record keeping, referrals for special education and ongoing communication with 50% families. Supervise undergraduate students and assist in their training. Meet with CDC director, complete annual evaluation process, participate in team meetings and staff meetings, participate on committees and special projects, participate in center wide events and represent the CDC at local and state level. Attend evening or weekend events.
