Presenter: Karyn Yeatman, ECMPWT
This is a 2 part series and attendance at both sessions is required
These sessions will focus on the importance and power of observation and documentation in the early childhood setting. When observation becomes routine in your classroom you are able to provide an environment and curriculum that meets the individual needs of each student on all levels of development.
Session one will focus on observation. Once we have defined observation and discussed the benefits, we will explore different methods and tools. Group activities to practice and sharpen observation skills will be incorporated throughout the session.
Participants will be expected to bring three observations made between the sessions with them to session two where we will focus on documentation.
In session two, participants will discuss their experiences during observations, and practice turning observations into documentation. We will discuss the uses of and explore tools and methods of documentation.
